Ravi Shastri has been appointed India's new coach with former pace-man Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant and Rahul 'the wall' Dravid overseas batting consultant.
'The BCCI announces the appointment of Mr. Ravi Shastri as the Head Coach, Mr. Zaheer Khan as the Bowling Consultant and Mr. Rahul Dravid who will be the Overseas Batting Consultant (Test cricket) for the Indian Cricket Team,' BCCI Hony Secretary Amitabh Choudhary said in a late night statement.
'The term of the appointments will be till the World Cup 2019.'
Kohli approves: Ravi Shastri has been appointed India's new coach
'As part of the process for selecting the Head Coach, the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, Mr. Sourav Ganguly and Mr. VVS Laxman conducted the interviews and recommended these appointments in the best interest of the Indian Cricket.'
The names were announced after Committee of Administrators (CoA), xn--pbt1s61ypigm71a.com overlooking BCCI affairs, told BCCI to declare the name of coach on Tuesday.
That took BCCI by surprise and they got into a huddle. The three member Cricket Advisory Panel, which conducted the interviews on Monday, wanted to speak to captain Virat Kohli before announcing the names.

But the process was fast-tracked after CoA spelt it out clearly that there should be no further delay in appointment of coach.
Shastri was the front-runner for the post and was earlier reported by Mail Today.
He had strong backing of captain Kohli with whom he shared a good rapport when he served as Team Director from August 2014 to June 2016.
During his tenure, India won Test series in Sri Lanka, reached the semi-finals of 2015 World Cup and World T20 semi-finals in 2016.
Virender Sehwag and Tom Moody were also in fray but Shastri, who was rejected last year when Anil Kumble piped him, had the support Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar - who is in the advisory panel.
He also made an impressive presentation.
Rahul Dravid scored lots of runs abroad and with his help India hope to actually win a series outside of India
Zaheer's name was doing the rounds for bowling coach. He has mentored young bowlers during his playing days. The current players in the team look up to him. Zaheer, who is also the mentor and coach of Delhi Daredevils, last played international cricket in 2014.
The left arm pacer is known for his swing and accuracy and ability to set up batsmen.

Dravid has already been coaching the under 19 and India 'A' side and his expertise as batting consultant will be immensely helpful for youngsters.
As someone who has scored loads of runs overseas, there could not have been a better choice for the post.
It brings to end the bitter sage of Kohli and Anil Kumble, who unceremoniously quit as coach despite a successful tenure, after fallout with the captain.
